The smallest administrative division in Spain is called a municipality. A municipality consists of one or more cities, towns or villages, governed by a local council.
The local council organizes MUNICIPAL SERVICES.
These include:
- Health care services, such as hospitals and health centres.
- Environmental services, such as street lighting, street cleaning and looking after parks and gardens.
- Police and fire services.
- Cultural and leisure services, such as libraries and sports centres.
- Town planning services repair and maintain our roads and organize public transport.
- Education services, such as schools and universities.
